Your privacy is paramount. 1 vs 1 Chess Offline Arena operates as a privacy-by-design, client-side web application. We do not harvest, monetize, or track your personal information or chess matches.

The Short Version (Plain English) We do not require user accounts, we do not ask for your email address or credit card, and we do not track your chess moves. All gameplay happens on your own phone, tablet, or computer. If you close the tab, nothing is uploaded to any private database.

1. Overview & Architecture

This Privacy Policy applies to the web application hosted at chess-1v1.pages.dev (the "Service"). Our platform is designed as an offline-first, client-side utility for two players to enjoy 1 vs 1 chess matches on a shared device.

Because game mechanics, move calculations, digital timers, and audio synthesis are performed entirely within your device's web browser, no match telemetry or board state is transmitted across the internet to our servers.

2. Information We Do NOT Collect

To ensure absolute privacy, our platform deliberately omits all user-tracking mechanisms:

  • No Personal Identifiers: We do not collect names, email addresses, phone numbers, or mailing addresses.
  • No Account Credentials: There is no sign-in system, password requirement, or social network authentication.
  • No Financial Data: The application is 100% free with no paid tiers, credit card processors, or digital wallets.
  • No Game Surveillance: We do not record or analyze your move decisions, match durations, or win/loss records on remote servers.
  • No Precise Geolocation: We never request GPS or location permissions from your browser.

3. Browser Local Storage (Client-Side Only)

To remember your visual and interface choices between sessions, the application utilizes your browser's standard localStorage API. This data stays entirely on your local device and is never sent over any network:

  • Board Theme: Remembers your chosen palette (Black & Blue, Emerald, Walnut, or Cyber).
  • Move Hints Setting: Remembers whether legal move dots and capture rings are active.
  • Audio Toggle: Remembers whether game sound effects are enabled or muted.
  • Opponent Clock Orientation: Remembers whether the top player card is inverted 180° for face-to-face play.
  • Player Names: Remembers custom names entered in the Match Setup modal for your convenience.

You can clear this data at any moment by clearing your browser's site data or history, which immediately restores all factory default settings.

4. Hosting & Server Infrastructure

Our application is statically hosted on Cloudflare Pages. When you request the website files, Cloudflare's Content Delivery Network (CDN) may temporarily log standard web server telemetry:

  • Your IP address (anonymized for diagnostic and DDoS defense purposes)
  • Browser user-agent string and operating system version
  • HTTP request timestamps and referring URLs

These server logs are used strictly for network security, preventing cyber attacks, and maintaining web uptime. They are never combined with personal identities or used for behavioral advertising.

5. Third-Party Fonts & CDNs

To deliver a clean, modern aesthetic, the website loads fonts (Plus Jakarta Sans, Outfit, JetBrains Mono) from Google Fonts. Google may process your device's IP address to serve the necessary font files. We do not use third-party tracking scripts, Facebook Pixel, or intrusive advertising SDKs.

6. Cookies Policy

1 vs 1 Chess Offline Arena does not use tracking cookies. We do not place advertising cookies, behavioral profiling cookies, or cross-site tracking cookies on your computer or mobile device.

7. Children's Privacy (COPPA & GDPR-K)

Because chess is a celebrated educational tool in schools, classrooms, and families worldwide, our service is safe for users of all ages, including children under 13. We do not solicit or gather any personal information from children or adults alike.

8. Your Rights Under GDPR & CCPA

Under regulations such as the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), individuals have rights regarding their personal data, including the right of access, rectification, and erasure.

Because we do not collect or store personal data on any server, there is no remote profile to view or delete. To delete your locally saved theme and player names, simply tap Clear Storage in your browser preferences.
